Joel Weinstein
President & Editorial Director
Joel Weinstein is President and Editorial Director of Bass Brushes, a second-generation family business rooted in professional grooming, thoughtful design, and the creation of superior brushes with purpose and elegance. He is deeply involved in product design, holds several hairbrush patents, and leads the Bass Education & Insights Journal, the company’s structured publishing platform for deep education on technique, product knowledge, historical perspectives and functional grooming guidance for professionals and consumers.
President, Bass Brushes
As President of Bass Brushes, Joel works alongside his brother & Co-President Cory Weinstein to guide the continued evolution of a 50-year-old company while preserving the core identity developed by his father and company founder, Ron Weinstein. That identity has defined Bass from the beginning: a commitment to superior product design, professional-quality grooming tools, natural materials and brushes created with purpose and elegance. Joel’s leadership focuses on strengthening that foundation while expanding the brand’s creative, educational, and editorial reach.
Joel’s vision is guided by the sincere belief that grooming is more than routine maintenance — it is one of the most basic daily acts of artistry, confidence, refinement, and personal resonance. At Bass, that vision is expressed through brushes and grooming implements designed as artist’s tools: beautiful, durable, and highly functional instruments for everyday care, professional technique, and personal expression.
Patented Product Designer
Joel holds multiple design patents, and his product work focuses on the relationship between tool architecture, material expression, and real-world grooming outcomes. His design philosophy is rooted in creating objects that are both beautiful and useful, with careful attention to form, proportion, material combinations, ergonomics, tactile performance, durability, and the way each element affects comfort, control, function, and everyday use.
His design approach emphasizes purposeful construction, material integrity, ergonomic performance, and the practical needs of professional stylists, grooming professionals, and everyday users. At the same time, Joel believes grooming tools should feel captivating to hold, beautiful to see, and luxurious to use — objects that elevate ordinary moments of personal care through beauty, refinement, and sensory pleasure.
Editorial & Education Director
As Editorial Director, Joel leads the Bass Education & Insights Journal as a structured learning platform for hairbrush education, brushing technique, product knowledge, and functional grooming guidance.
His editorial work translates product experience, design principles, and professional grooming concepts into deep, but clear educational resources for stylists, retailers, distributors, and consumers. Under his direction, the Journal organizes complex grooming topics into practical guides, textbooks, and instructional articles that help readers understand not only which tools to use, but why specific brush designs, materials, and techniques matter.
Family Heritage & Professional Roots
Joel is part of the second-generation leadership of Bass Brushes and grew up within a family business deeply connected to the professional beauty industry. Both of his parents were stylists, and his father, Ron Weinstein, founded Bass with a clear commitment to professional-quality grooming tools that could serve stylists and everyday users with integrity, function, and lasting value.
That family foundation continues to shape Joel’s perspective today. His understanding of brushes, grooming, salon culture, and professional standards grew from lifelong exposure to the people, practices, and values that shaped Bass from the beginning.
